I am running a wireless router. I connect my computer. I plug in my lan connected to a wired router. wired router is connected to anther computer. How can I get the internet to work for the last computer? Cross-over cables don't like my computers which is why im using a router. I just haven't been able to figure this out. Thanx for any help.
can be a bit more clear ? From what I read, you have 2 routers connected to each other, which is kinda useless and probably causes nothing but problems. You should try connecting your computer directly to the wireless router. Please give a bit more info about the settings (ie . IP-adress from the router(s) and the computer(s))
Yea, if you have multiple computers connected to a single router, and that router has some type of connection to the external internet, then you should be able to have internet access to all computers on that router, as well as have a LAN set up internally without any problem whatsoever. If you DO have two routers connected together for some reason, lose one and make sure your internet account info is entered properly and see if that helps.
So is there anyway to use 1 computer as an "achor" for the internet? I have gotten mixed succes with a tunneling program but not total access. I was trying to find out how to broadcast the internet throught this smaller home network instead of all the time plus the other comp isn't/can't be set up for wifi. So my question is this, I have a desktop pc connected to the net through a wired modem. I also have
a free (as in not used) wireless network adapter build in to the desktop pc which I want to share
with a laptop. The goal is to have a live internet connection on the laptop. What are the steps I

I have just installed a dual boot setup with Windows XP Professional SP2 and Ubuntu 7.04 on a DELL
Inspiron 1501. While I did the installation no cable was plugged into the NIC. After plugging a
network cable into the NIC I'm having the problem that Ubuntu recognizes and can work with the
NIC without any problems, but in Windows XP I can't get the LAN connection to show up in Network
Connections. So I have therefore narrowed down the problem as not being on the hardware side. I
tried running the Add Hardware wizard with the installation CD inside and instructed ....
So..in the picture below you can see the schematic I made. The internet enters in the first PC thru
the DSL box , and I wanna connect the internet PC with the other PC's with a giga lan speed. For
that I think I will need a second Lan card because the internet PC only has one lan port. Next I use
the Dlink 8 ports Switch. But I don't want the internet go from the internet PC thru the Dlink
and to the other PC's. Because I don't wanna put firewall and stuff on the other PC's.

i bought one off of eBay for $20 and it kicks ass!!! I just installed the driver and plugged it in
and it picked up the signal from my roughter and i never even had to open up my computer. Cards
similar go for around $60. lol. haha. my ass. this thing is awesome. Then i got a new computer
that had VISTA and i could install the driver because it wasn't for VISTA. So i used my
girlfriends computer to go online and go to the companies website and they had a download for the
VISTA driver on their site. Hells YEAH!!! Now it works and it's freakin fast as hell!....
Just built my new computer and holding off on a new wireless PCI adapter for the time being. I have
an old TrendNET USB Wireless Adapter that I plugged into this new computer. The problem I'm
having now is that whenever I get disconnects from my DSL router Windows won't reconnect

I was working on a site the other day and noticed something interesting. The tech support guy on the
other end seems to have remotely logged into the computer I was working on, but without my noticing
(or not very easily). I had my printers window open already but noticed that some of them were
"auto-deleting" and renaming themselves. I know remote desktop (like VNC) can do this but at least
it will show the other user what's happening. This one seems to be working in the background
without any user knowledge. I would think that if I didn't have that printer fold....
Do you know a good network simulator? like Cisco Systems Packet Tracert, where you can configure the

Hey, I'm studying for my Network+ cert (and, well, state competition as well) and I really want
to get my Network+ and make it to nationals in competition. The test software that came with the
Exam Cram 2 book is pretty basic, I've taken the "practice" test of 50 questions over and
over... it recycles the same questions and I've lost intrest... when you keep scoring a 80-97%

Hi friends! I have a network with windows 98 SE, in the network I have 3 computers, 2 desktop
Pc's and 1 Laptop. The desktop computers are connected using RJ45 connectors and the Laptop with
wireless, the 3 computers can use internet and with the desktop Pc's I can share files, but with
the Laptop not but when I do a ping the answer is correct. How can I share files between the 3

When I am on a Unix system or on a Linux system, I use a configuration file named ".netrc", which
stores my most used ftp settings. Is there an equivalent for ftp under Windows XP ? I tried
testing/guessing, I failed, it's not net.rc nor .netrc. It's not horribly necessary, but I

up. Miraculously, it always works everytime he comes. So the last time he came, i watched carefully
and made sure i remembered everything he did. It was not exactly complicated, and he set up the

My roommate and I have been looking for a way to share a network drive. I recently bought a 250GB
SATA HD for my computer because I desparately needed more space. When I go to college in August, my
rommie and I want to share that space. Is there any enclosure that will support a SATA HD and still
allow two computers to access it simultaneously. I know that this doesn't seem like a network
issue but there is the possibility that we would use an Ethernet enclosure and try to attempt some

Hello All, I have what may be a strange question... hopefully the answer/fix isn't as strange.
*grin* I have a home network. Works fine. Main computer hardwired, daugher's computer via
Wireless. They work fine together. I also have been provided a Laptop from work. I'm able to
sucessfully use my network wireless card and gain access to the internet at home. This Laptop from
work... is setup with the Network ID, as a "DOMAIN"... to fully access the "Intranet" at work. As
is normal for home usage... my main computer at home, as well as the daughter....
I just purchased a D-Link wireless router, a DI-524. On my computer i connect through dial up to the
internet. I have been trying to figure out how to share this connection through the router, but i
haven't been able to because the router is made to hook up to an external modem through a WAN

desktop which i will always use... den i wanted to test out my game... my all time favourite is the
custom game of warcraft: frozen throne call defense of the ancient: allstar a.k.a dota allstar... i
log into battle.net and joined a game... the game load and finally i was inside the game... it was
