hello. i have a new web site. i just made it and i cant put any of my stuff on it. i have .htm files on my computer, and i know how to use my FTP program (Transmit). i know my password and username. i just cant figure out the server. i thought i knew it, but apparently not. the site (not up) is marginoferror.com. i thought it was ftp.marginoferror.com, i even tried all the other URL's they sent me in the e-mail. if anyone has any suggestions i could use them, thanks.
Well, I still use my original address I got before I got the domain name But what login did you use? for me it would be something like username@other-net.com and then my root password (which of course I am not supplying LOL). I don't know how your ftp client works, but I would assume it's the same as all the other ones out there. The address I connect to is indeed ftp.other-net.com (as I said - this is in MY case).
Maybe you would be best off contacting your hosting company to see where the issue lies, because you're not hosted here and perhaps their system is different from here
Well .. i use a flashfxp ftp client to upload my files to a web server. This programs is very easy, you only put your user name , and your password... your ip or server address.. but some servers need to disable a passive mode of the client to conect.. because .. in some serves if you have active the option of passive mode in you ftp client.. dont connect... well.. try with this program... i use a lot.
The server would be the address the host gives so lets say your host is call beans.com and you registered the subdomain tin.beans.com that would be the ftp serber no ftp. or anything just tin.beans.com.
The username would be say you use cpanel, you gave the cpanel username pan. your username for the ftp program would register as pan@tin.beans.com
Using ftp clients on various web hosts requires different infomation to be sent, usually in the case of a subdomain the ftp address will still be the main domain for example dhost.info. I have a subdomain there and the address to the site is http://dhost.info/stevedemarcus/steve/ for me to ftp though the ftp address is ftp.dhost.info then I use a user name that was provided from the host (until I changed it to somthing that made sense) and my password was also assigned (which I also changed to make more sense) other web hosts may allow ftp acces by using a subdomain ftp address but I haven't seen too much of that.
The user that had the question about ftp might have to use the address of ftp.marginoferror.com and it is even possible but not likely that it is an anonymous account with no password required but not very likely as anyone could go wreck that site with their own ftp client. se they will have a username and password either that they chose themselves or that was emailed to them when they opened their account.
I haven't tried the site until just now and it is nonexistent this could be a spelling error, but with that spelling it is not there.
Maybe the original poster will come back with more info about their account and get some further help with their problem

Server Updation, a term heard quite often, be it during the Mobile Telecom Service Provider's
GPRS woes or a hosting service's unavailability. I have a general idea of what might be going
behind the scene, but could anybody elaborate on the exact technicalities involved in such an
intricate process. Explanations pertaining to our own Astahost would be even more helpful.....
Hi, is there an alternative method that's similar to Server Side Includes? I remember there was
one but forgot what it's called. I need someone to help explain what SSI is because I think
I'm using it but don't know if it's as simple as what I think it is. I use it mainly for
repeating text on my site (like the copyright stuff on each page). Is there another purpose for it?
Just asking because I'm going to switch web hosts soon and it looks like the plan I want does
NOT include SSI support. The package plan includes PHP support but I have no idea ....
I am running apache web server behind NetGear router. I can access all my documents with sufficient

In therory, my home server is setup just like a web hosting server. My user account has a web

Don't know if I'm in the right subforum for asking that question. But I really have a
strange problem. Since a few days I started not to be able to access my cpanel with Internet
Explorer. I keep getting 504 or 503 errors (remote page not available or not found). It's not
due to astahost because I can reach my cpanel from my office's computer. Only home I cannot !
Unfortunately, it's the place where I should use it. It behaves as if the 2082 service port was
unavailable. Is there something in IE6 settings (under XP) preventing my PC to open something....

This is my story about how I am accessing the Internet at my current location, which is Ayutthaya,
Thailand. I spend most of the year in Vienna, Austria, where I was born more than half a century
ago. But I certainly can do without the European winter and therefore enjoy spending time together
with my wife on her home turf. If you want to see pictures, please check this link . Sorry, the
captions of the pictures are in German only. When I was staying here before, I used to go to an
Internet Café that was open 24/7, and the hourly charge is only 15 Baht (some 35 Euro-C....

Hey, Back when I was searching for a free webhost, I came across this one (name is obviously
censored and replaced!) http://www.somewebhost.com But when I looked at their plans, they have 2
servers for hosting. One is paid and the free one. But they have it like, box6.somewebhost.com and
box7.somewebhost.com, but these are two totally different servers! I would like to know how you do
this because when looking at Google IP addresses, the one that hosts Google.com is totally different
than the one that hosts gmail.google.com. Thanks!....
