First of all, I would suggest you to go into "Network Connections", and see, what you've got there. There should be only ONE icon, something like "Local Area Connection". Next, you can try to uninstall the network card from your device list. Then put in your motherboard's CD into your CD-ROM drive, and install the Network drivers again. But most likely, Win Xp will do the driver installlation itself. Next, make sure your IP settings are correct, so you can connect to the network. Waiting for news...

Did you play alot around with (re)installing new network connections? If you do that a lot you end up having a lot of unused connections, the best thing to check which connections are actually used and remove the unused ones. Or if you don't want to SEE those icons in your tray, there should be an option for it around somewhere, click a bit around the trayicon.

I did not play around with (re)installing new network connections. and there is only one "Local Area Connection" in "Network Connections". There is no virtual network card as well. My solution is disable the onborad card and install a new PCI card..... that's it. Thank you for you guys help.

Proxy And Network Drive Script
- (2)
At school they've decided to force us to use a proxy server (a sucky one because it's more
offline than operational). As an Opera user, it's just a matter of pushing F12 to enable or
disable the use of a proxy server, but IE users and FF will have to do a litlle bit more. That's
why I've made this little "script" for the other users at school (in fact it's just a .reg
file that windows will import). Set and enable a proxy server (copy the following code into a file
with a .reg extention) CODE Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 "ProxyEn...

Hello, I am using a modified explorer executable (just renamed is all, I couldn't be bothered

and even if I changed it to a different one (and make sure the file isn't removed, I figured
windows would cache them.....), or back to the original, it will not stay. As soon as explorer is
shut down and re-started, or I re-boot the computer, I am again represented with th...
