Getting a great looking website is really a difficult task. We need to take care to make the site
more acceaaible and get more visitors pouring in. Here are a few dont's that you need to keep in
in while designing a site. 1. Clutter - Too much text and too many links is information
overload. Simplicity is the most efficient way of getting a point across. If you must have a dozen
of links in your site, classify them in sections for easy navigation. 2. Different font sizes -
Keep consistency in font sizes for text content of similar nature like headers, foote...

You know the best combination of webdesigning for me? 1. OS: Microsoft Windows XP 2. Web Server:
Apache web server 3. Database: MySQL database 4. Dynamic page language: PHP 5. Page designer:

We've all com across terrible websites before and hit the back button as quickly as possible.
But what makes these sites any terrible? Keep the following in mind when designing. JavaScript and
Flash can be great tools, but only if used properly. Don't put trails after the curser,
fireworks or other animations flying around the page or the dreaded Flash intro. If you must use an
intro, Flash or otherwise, then put a 'skip intro' button. You may wish to show of your
Flash skills, but we don;t want to watch! :-) Keep your page dynamic. Having warned you ...

Just wanna know other's views/styles/opinions on designing Web Apps... Here is mine: 1.)
Application Definition => Explains the mission/goals of the application 2.) Target Audience => Who
are you building your Application for? (e.g General Public, Students, Parents, Programmers, etc...)
3.) General Requirements Gathering => Write down all the requirements of the Application (Layout,
Graphics, Content, Features, etc...) 4.) Technical Requirements Gathering => All the classes,
methods/functions to be used, Plug-ins, etc... 5.) Flowchart / Diagram => Flowchart of...

Say you would like to make a website made in say tables with background pics to create the entire
layout of the site, how would you go about actually DESIGNING the graphics and making everything
blend in seamlessly. I have been having a lot of trouble actually coming up with smooth flowing
graphics that dont detract from the usability aspects yet still looks good! Im not sure if this
would be the right section or maybe it should be in the graphics but its got aspects of both....

AT the moment im at school and in technology class we are designing our own packaging and a brand
name. I think that its quite cool that we get to do these things in class....

Since I got a new router and have some equipment that doesn't work, I've been proposed ideas
for my LAN. I have a wireless LinkSys router (4 port switch on back). Because wireless is terrible
on my side of the house (I sometimes drop connections), there is currently a 50 foot cable running
from the router, through the house, to my room where it goes into a network hub, then it branches to
one computer and to my computer. I can't have the long cable running through the house. My dad
is getting annoyed with it and so am I because I can't close my bedroom...

Me and my friend are building a website for friends, were they can login with their own username and
password. On the site our friends can react on polls, and that kind of stuff. We want to get this in
a database, wich only we 2 can see. Can someone tell us how we have to do this? Greetings,

i tossed this review into the designing forum because i dont want it looked at as a website
review...i want the comments to be based on the design of the site and not the content or speed or

I always use programs to do the work for me, I think a "creative mind" is important too, you can
learn how to program or design things, but that doesn't mean you'll create great things...

Hey i was offered a job by another Australian to do graphics designin, He said he would pay me 80%
of what it sells for. I was just wondering is that a reasonable deal to work with or should i just
forget it. I might give it a try and see how much business he gets and also how he works with the
customers and most importantly other employees....

I know most people use Fireworks or Photoshop for Graphic Design. Are there any other programs?...
