Let's suppose you are using two network settings with your laptop frequently. Wether it's a
wireless or wired network, all the same: Every time you want to change the IP, subnet mask, default
gateway and DNS Server(s) of your network connection in any flavour of Windows, you have to click

Hello All, I have what may be a strange question... hopefully the answer/fix isn't as strange.
*grin* I have a home network. Works fine. Main computer hardwired, daugher's computer via
Wireless. They work fine together. I also have been provided a Laptop from work. I'm able to
sucessfully use my network wireless card and gain access to the internet at home. This Laptop from

Hello, I am having some trouble setting up Internet Connection Sharing. Here is my setup. My
internet is through a neighbor who is sharing there internet with me wirelessly, so I don't have
any type of broadband modem, just a wireless card on my desktop PC. I have a linksys WRT54G router

I like to share our broadband modem and access Internet from the second computer. The 2 computers
are not connected to each other. I am considering setting up a network of these 2 computers using a
wireless access point and 2 wireless network cards. I assume the access point and the braodband
modem will be attached to one of the computers and the other computer will be able to access

I'm trying to setup a home network at my house but I'm having some problems. I make a new
network and everything, and I can see the computers but I can't access them. It says that I
don't have permission or something. I have a desktop computer that is connected to the router

Hey, I'm helping my mom with one of her web projects for class and I've noticed a pretty
big problem (no thanks to IE7) that cost her a few points. It won't load an image of an email
icon, however, Firefox will load and display it properly. Here's the line for the image: CODE
Also, IE7 complains about some ActiveX content, but this is just a basic page and NO
JavaScript, NO Java applets, NO ActiveX of any kind! I've never seen anything as crazy as this!

I am using a Pentium 4 computer (256 MB RAM) with windows 2000 service pack 4 installed in it. While
using Internet through a cable braodband modem, the computer sometimes freezes completely. It no
more responds to any keystroke or any left/ right mouse click. I then have to restart the computer
to be able to use it again. I have noticed it happened once or twice when I entered some text in the
Google search box and pressed the enter key. Has anybody experienced this problem and know how to

Hi All, I have a proxy internet connection and i am not able to download any torrent with any kind
of torrent client. I have also configured torrent clients to use my proxy but it never works for me.
My proxy ip is 10.178.3.1 and the port is 8080. Is there any way to connect to torrents for

This happened to me many times before and i eventually had to call my uncle over to help me fix it
up. Miraculously, it always works everytime he comes. So the last time he came, i watched carefully
and made sure i remembered everything he did. It was not exactly complicated, and he set up the

Hi, I have just reinstalled windows 2k on my laptop and have been trying to connect to my wireless
network. I have managed to get the wireless adapter to connect to the computer (it has power and the
computer recognizes it) and the software that comes with the card can see the AP. when i try to
connect to the AP nothing happens. i am not able to connect to anything, no pings, no network, no

It is possible. If you have wifi on your laptop, run the search function. It will show you which
networks are available in your location. They may be coded however. But you will be surprised how
many free services there are, and how many people do not realize they have not secured their
network. If you find a connection with a small box in the right corner, it means it's an ad-hoc
network. You may try to connect but not be able to, but if you can't, just run the network set
up wizard, wait until it finds it then add it ! Otherwise, if you can only get secured net...

Hi, I just got my iMac today and want to set it up to have wireless internet using my DSL Router. I
got a USB Wireless Adapter (for the Mac OS) and installed the drivers for it. Then I restarted and
plugged in the USB adapter. The manual said a flashing icon should be on the upper left, but I

Lately, my computer's internet has been getting slower and slower. When I check the connections
established in all my programs, there is my usual programs running. When I test the connection on
another computer, it was also slow. The ping rate between my computer and the router is <1ms, so I
don't think its the router problem. From 500 kb/s, it changed to 300kb/s, 100 kb/s and now its
