Re: Squid Proxy: Port 3128 - Connection ProblemsSquid Proxy: Port 3128 - Connection Problems

hi Nivedita

Well, I think its too late to answer. You wrote that u've tried http-connectMethod and socks4 and socks5 etc. Using socks is meaningless for anHttp proxy but did u try http-get method. Use the http-get method in the download manager and it should possibly work.In my institution, the http-get methodWorks and not the connect method, so thought it would help. Btw are uFrom jaypee ? I am asking this coz I went at jaypee university,Waknagahat, a few days back and they were using cyberroam and the sameProxy server address u have stated here. Good luck neways.

Something funny has happened with my utorrent.

Every time I try to download something, well ...It doesn't start!

In the trackers section I can find written, "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."

It's funny that it refuses to connect. Usually, when you set the download managers to work through a HTTP proxy, they should work irrespective of the protocol in use.

What you're describing is Squid ( http://www.squid-cache.org ) - a standardized proxy server for Linux based systems - though they've introduced a compiled binary meant to run under Windows with the help of the Cygwin libraries ( http://www.cygwin.com ).

As for Cyberoam - it's not simply a bandwidth shaper - but more of a unified threat management client (IDS/IPS) for corporate networks. It's written by EliteCore Tech ( http://www.elitecore.com/indexhtml.htm ). I dunno how its doing it - but most likely, Cyberoam is dropping any kind of data packets other than basic HTTP. That might explain why your download managers fail to work over the proxy. We use another product of EliteCore called 24-Online for logging onto our cable internet back home.

Maybe going through all these sites might shed some light on your problem. In any case just wait up and see if anyone's able to provide you with a solution.

Hi all,
I also access internet in my college. The college has a proxy server with proxy address as:
172.31.1.6 : 3128. This is the proxy we put in the web browser when accessing internet.
Now, when i try to use download managers/accelerators. They simply don't work. I have tried using the proxies but to no use. I use Flashget. I have tried the proxy in Socks4, Socks5, HTTP Connect, FTP but to no use. I searched internet for port 3128. It says that it uses something called Siquid Proxy. Does anyone knows what is that? The software used for managing the bandwidth of the college is "Cyberoam".
Kindly helo me to configure the download manager.

Waiting for reply.
