If you want install Mplayer in suse, you need to download some rpm's because this distro don't have the program.
this is the rpm's:
konquerorVa7hAa.pm.0.i386.rpm
lame-3.95.1-pm.1.i586.rpm
libtheora-0.9_1.0alpha3-0.pm.0.i586.rpm
MPlayer-1.0pre5-pm.1.i586.rpm

If you don't find this in browser, send me a e-mail at el_rey_leon_james@Yahoo.com.mx and I send you this rpm's

Install is ease:
You only need to do double click in the first three rpm's and you open the yast instalation and yast do all for you. He say you every dependence and the order of the packages that you should install. :) :) :P

mplayer is also avaiable in windows..

anyways.. how to install....

IF you are using gentoo (my fave distro)
emerge mplayer

[IF you are using an RPM]
#download all the rpm's you need...(mplayer mplayer-common mplayer-skins mplayer-gui)
rpm -Uvh ./mplayer*.rpm

IF you want to compile from source
#download the source code and extract it into a folder.
./configure && make && make install

#NOTE: you wll need to add the 'with GUI' flags if you want to also compile the gui interface.. read ./configure --help for more info.

source code available at http://mplayerhq.hu

Yes the program Mplayer is best of windows media player. You can download that every codec pack and skins. These program open your movies faster, and it does't matter that type be: DVD, VCD, AVI, ASF, MPG, DivX and  XviD.
These player is faster and ease for use. Ty it I assure you that pleased you. But it's only under Linux Use.
