Well, as Samsung is a big company, it works with a lot of partners. I read some news about their projects, will try to put first found links from google. Even though some things might be a year old, but they've always played with those patents, but used each other resources and etc.

Samsung is making the Apple-designed A6 chip for the next generation smart phone, contrary to recent rumours. The Korean company has even boosted production of chips at its plant in Austin, Texas. It was seem as if the two have finally found a way to play nice...

Samsung Electronics Co. (005930) will supply the screen for Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s new iPad after LG Display Co. (034220) and Sharp Corp. (6753) didn’t meet the U.S. company’s quality requirements, an analyst with iSuppli said.

SEOUL: Samsung Electronics will maintain its components partnership with US rival Apple, a top executive of the South Korean firm said Wednesday, despite their heated legal battles over patents.

Apple was Samsung's second-largest client in 2010 after Japan's Sony Corp, accounting for four percent of its 155 trillion won ($142 billion) annual revenue.

The Korean company will continue to supply parts to Apple next year, Lee said, adding his meeting with Cook covered the issue of promoting "good relations".

So, maybe Apple would want to get some parts for their devices elsewhere, but the quality wouldn't be as good as from Samsung? Samsung is really good on quality, as it has separate departments for quality testing of different products.

There are much more one Google with these keywords: https://www.google.c...ip with samsung

In that link you can find a photo, which shows that even in year 1987, Samsung manufactured monitors for Apple :) Maybe they like to have "hate" relationships? Or it's just business and publicity and greet to get more. Moreover, Apple might be afraid of Samsung :D

To continue with Microsoft

Microsoft, Samsung expand smartphone partnership: http://www.usatoday....ship/50589412/1

also Microsoft Surface 2 computer is a project by Samsung and Microsoft, which they both worked, mainly the screen is manufactured by Samsung. Maybe it's even called Samsung SUR40 or Microsoft Surface 2, don't really know, but Microsoft developed PixelSense technology for it.

I think we could find much more partnerships, if it gets them more revenue and they have sense, they will work together, but they will also "hate" each other? :D

I didn't know that experienced people from Microsoft, Apple and Samsung work together to produce technological excellence, could you please specify what project you are referring to? I am really curious about the outcome that would be the result of the joint endeavors of the masters of technology.

Yeah, some patents are really ridiculous... On the other hand, there are jobs for courts and it's quite a good commercial for both Samsung and Apple to spread the word about their new devices and their brand name.

So sometimes I wonder, if some patent "wars" are just for the eyes? It's strange, that these kind of patent wars exists, it seems that some companies are at war, but when you go deeper, you can also see they work together on some projects or use each other resources and device parts. I am mainly talking about Microsoft, Apple and Samsung.

... Moreover, just on the basis of co-incidence, can there be no similarities between two devices which have been developed in the same era, to serve the same kind of purposes, then there could be possibilities of both of them having somewhat similar features, it can be all left to the consumer to decide for the consumers to decide for themselves depending on their requirements and convenience of use.

the thing is, its hard to differentiate between similar features and copied features... so i guess the one who patent a particular feature first will hold the rights to sue who-ever else copied (or even come up with similar feature on their own) that particular feature

but it's getting to a stage that some of these patent wars are just ridiculous...

That is funny! these tech giants decide to spend so much of time and money to drag each other into such issues, that is incredible indeed, they can shift their attention with the same amount of time and money and develop a bit of advanced technology. Moreover, just on the basis of co-incidence, can there be no similarities between two devices which have been developed in the same era, to serve the same kind of purposes, then there could be possibilities of both of them having somewhat similar features, it can be all left to the consumer to decide for the consumers to decide for themselves depending on their requirements and convenience of use.

my take:
great tactics from Samsung and Apple...

let's work together and build awesome devices, let's also accuse each other of patent infringements so it will add extra attentions and promote our brands even further :)

what's yours?
