The srt format is rather simple, simply have a look at a movie where you already have the srt file.
And, yes, the srt file can be edited with a text editor. For instance, you can use a wordprocessor in order to find all the mistyping in a given file!

i'm just wondering if it's easy to write up a srt subtitle file for a movie manually, if possible?

i've got a few movies that i would like to write srt files to (i do the translations myself but would like to manually add the texts to it)

can it be done with a txt editor?
