This tutorial is to inform the reader of how to download videos from YouTube. I will also inform you of how to convert these videos into MP4 format so you can put them on your iPod. First, download Mozilla Firefox Internet Browser. This is, in my opinion, the most secure and customizable browser available. It can be downloaded freely at http://www.firefox.com. After you have Mozilla Firefox installed, open it and go to: http://www.firefox.com. When the page has finished loading, click Add-ons at the top of the page. Once the page has loaded, click in the search field near the top of the page. Type in "DownloadHelper" (Without the quotes!). After the results have loaded, click "Video DownloadHelper". After the page loads, scroll down and click "Install Now". After the Add-on is finished installing, you will have to restart Firefox. After everything is installed and you have restarted Firefox, go to http://www.youtube.com. Search for any video you would like to download. Once you find one, click on it. When you get to Player page (the page with the video playing on it), look just to the right of your address bar. A picture of 3 balls (one blue, one yellow, and one red) should be illuminated and spinning. Click the arrow next to the icon and select the video with the 'YouTube' icon next to it. That will initiate the download. That's all there is to it!

NOTE*** YouTube videos are in .flv format, or Flash Video Format, so to play them you will need to either convert them or download a .flv player. A free Flash Video Player can be downloaded freely at http://www.wimpyplayer.com/products/wimpy_...flv_player.html. If you want to convert them to make them compatible with your iPod, you can download a Free Ipod Video Converter from http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html. (Once the Page loads, click Free Ipod Converter on the left of the page).

HAPPY DOWNLOADING!!!

I use UserJS (Greasemonkey equal?) on Opera, there's a download script for it I have, havn't seen it work in a while but I'm probably doing something wrong. Imo, not worth downloading something (as bad as) like FF for, maybe a standalone downloader, from url to avi.

Nice I'll have to try this out, I think I used to have something that had a similar outcome but it stopped working due to changes in how most sites stream their videos or something. Anyways I'll try this out later, thanks for the tutorial

I'm pretty sure you can find a converter to convert the files to AVI. I'll look into it and get back to you.

Very Nice tutorial biggrin.gif Thank you so much wink.gif But It takes time to download the songs tongue.gif

@Yordan: I found this site wink.gif
FLV to AVI and mp3 and more converter

One is a FLV to AVI MPEG WMV Converter
And another one is a FLV to MP3 Converter.
Of course there are more, but theese are the ones you want to use I think.
And there is also a program that converts them to Ipod, but no idea if it is from FLV to ipod format.

I have tryed the FLV to mp3 converter, and it worked fine smile.gif
The FLV to AVI converter also worked fine smile.gif

My antivirus didn't find anything when I scanned the files. But I couldn't scan it with my Anti-spyware, because it is already scanning the computer. I am using AVG-free if you want to know wink.gif

Best Regards //Feelay

theres also another way to get youtube movies downloaded...haha all you do is good download youtube movies and presto it comes up with a site that you plug the address into and then bam theres your download...only problem is that i think they limit the bandwith some so it will be slowish. the first idea is alot quicker download but if you wanted a quick fix then use this idea.

I never really thought to download videos from youtube. But now that I am hearing all of the cool possibilities that come from it, I may have to play around a bit.

I don't have an iPod, or a cool phone that can do more than either receive and make phone calls, or just sits and roams.

I would think that it could be possible to download and maybe burn to disk. I think it would lower bandwidth if you were to download your favorite videos and play them whenever you want... and not have to worry about it always having to reload time after time... especially if it is a large file, or extra long video.

Good job on creating the tutorial... Now i can have more fun when I find one that just floors me, and I'll just download it and add it to my whopping huge diskspace!
