The desktop computers are connected using RJ45 connectors and the Laptop with wireless, the 3 computers can use internet and with the desktop Pc's I can share files, but with the Laptop not but when I do a ping the answer is correct. I'm not sure it's the same username but the same workgroup name.
In addition, each computer must have at least one folder set to SHARING. |

I'm afraid in Win98 you cannot mount a shared folder using another username. So, a user with the same name and the same password has to exist on each Win98 PC (I think). |

Are both 3 computers using windows 98?
Is the firewall turned on at your laptop? What happens when you open \\IP\share instead of \\computer\share? (IP is similar to 192.168.1.3) |

Is workgroup name for all of your three pc's is same?
The ip address should be of same class and workgroup should be same to share files. Also check whether file and printer sharing service is on on the notebook. |

Try copying the network setup disk from an xp setup disk or if you haven't got one you can download it from: http://public.box.net/wiljamlan32003
