hey,

I need some help getting IE6 on FC5... the installer always quits saying that it can't download required things... anyway around this?

On my last install, I got IE installed somehow, but it was only on the root user!

Thanks!

no, you're not dreaming, but IE6 should only be USED for IE-only websites like Yahoo! Launchcast or viewing Microsoft's website.

Just launch the installer using WineTools, this is the best way to get things installed.

Hey Nightfox,

Your easiest solution is to download and run ie4linux.

I spent a long time trying to get IE6 working with WINE for FC5 and never realised that there was this installer which could have saved me hours. I only found it after I got IE6 working, which was a pity.

Cheers,

MC

alternatively, you may go to http://www.dll-files.com/ and get each missing dll file.

ies4linux is great if you want barebone IE6 features because Windows Media Player DOES NOT work on it.

hmmmm.... I have heard that 0.9.12+ breaks IE, but I'm not sure as I haven't tried it yet.
