Hi. Do you know of any way to send an e-mail to SMS for free? Btw, my telco does not provide Email to SMS functionality. Or are there other ways to programmatically send an SMS to someone for free?
Besides that, I have several questions regarding the SMS technology. 1. There are a lot of free SMS sending websites out there. Do they just rely on the respective telco's Email to SMS functionality? If not, then how can it be free? 2. How does an international SMS transfer happens? Example would be someone sending an SMS from US to UK. I know a little about the SMSC and SMS gateway, but does the whole system operates like the internet? Any help would be appreciated. And I am in no rush for answers. So feel free to comment even if the post is old. Thanks. This post has been edited by yeh: Jun 2 2006, 07:02 AM |

I don't know much about email to SMS but I'm currently experimenting with sending SMS off your desktop through your own code. We've bought a small experimental package from our local provider called AIS (Thailand).
They gave up this small API - which states that you definitely need a net connection first and foremost... Next you simply connect to a SMS Server and use their API Calls to pass on the message along with the number to be delivered to. The SMS Gateway does the rest. Thats all I can tell you for now.. If I manage to gain some more light in this respect I'll drop by and make another post |
