his idea would be to create a completely hands free cell phone.. The phone will be used and worn just like the new curretn ear pieces.. The design will be very similar but will design sleek looking models..

This phone would need to be completely hands free, with that said.. there would be no keypad of any sort.. there would also be no display screen.. these would have to be sometype of smart phone..

Everything would be voice activated

Even to programs your numbers you would say something like new directory. then the phone would promp the questions for you to answer such as name of person, home number, home number..

so then do dial you would simply say call john at work or cell, or home.

if you are wondering well how will i see who is calling me.. the phone wil automativcally let you know.. saying

incoming call from :

of the person is programmed to your phone then it would sate something like so

incoming call from John Cell number

and to answer you would say end call or something like so

but what do you guys think of something like this.

Funny your brother should mention this. Yesterday some co-workers at the office actually said the exact same thing.

That would be awesome to have a phone like that, but I see one main setback here. That headset/earphone hanging from your ear will most likely not feel comfortable after wearing it for an extremely long period of time.

If this "new" phone is made possible in the near future, hopefully it will have a speaker function also. That way it will be really handsfree and you don't need to keep it hanging on your ear for many hours throughout the day (say at home even - ears needs resting wink.gif).

That's quite a good idea, msabas('s brother, I should say!) tongue.gif .

Well, have you guys seen the latest wireless hearing aids? They are about the size of a peanut and go into your ear from the back side! If hard-hearing people can wear those all day and everyday, I bet we could do that too!

As for the mic, you could always use a separate collar-mic. We can have bluetooth between them so that there's no wire stuff in wireless cells! biggrin.gif

And yes, the voice-activated cell software can be nicely incorporated into a microchip and put into the main speaker itself. Now, the only problems we would face are-
  1. Where to put the main communicating device? ( ohmy.gif did we forget this?!)
  2. What about the power or storage batteries? ( wink.gif Damn!)

Also, on the dark(er) side, all we could do on it would be just make (or receive) voice calls, and in this cheesy new technology-addicted world, nobody would want just that!

Anyways, those were the pros and cons, now you decide what its really worth! unsure.gif

Yes, i see to many cons:

People walking around talking to air.

The thing hurting your ear (you ears can really star to hurt from wearing headphones, like when i would playe Myst III for several hours.)

Plus if it malfunctioned, like that exploding dell laptop (or even just overheated a little) it could really cause a problem (although this point is very unlikely).

Also, I have personally never found a voice recognition system up to my standards.

That is an intriguing idea. With the rising popularity of the Palm Treos though, I wonder whether the lack of a keypad or screen would be an asset. People use their mobile phones for many other purposes, such as playing games, keeping track of information, taking pictures, and more. And for the privacy buffs, would you necessarily want to broadcast to the crowd whom you're calling (when you voice activate your phone to "dial John Delano")?

Otherwise, I think it is an interesting concept.

Yes, it is that. There are so many new phones coming out lately. I have even seen ones with fingerprint recognition! Much of it I think is un-necessary. For example, even with old-fashioned cameras families usually end up with way more photos than they'll ever want to look at. With camera phones. people are taking pictures all the time and uploading them to their websites. It's cool, but it's also very stupid when you actually think about it. The camera is just a gimik, like text-messaging was. It actually doesn't make as much sense as it seems like it should (which would you rather do? talk to a person via voice or write cryptic messages like iwill w8 4u @ 930 dwn bi da dox, b there).

This is another long-winded opinion, but hey it's the internet. I can say whatever I want tongue.gif

But isn't the handless phone just sort of like Bluetooth?

You have it wirelessly attached to your actual phone, and everything IS voice activated. You can control the volume, call people, pick up the phone, put people on hold. The only thing is though that it has to be within like...30 feet of your phone.

I have one and it's great quality. But most of the time, I just use my normal phone. The Bluetooth is just way too small and I feel as if I'm talking to air (as some people suggested above)

I don't really like the idea, even though it is nice, but when I see people walking and talking to the air they look like idiots smile.gif But a lot of whom said a lot of downsides of this idea, I could think of even more, but to avoid these problems/downsides I can come up an create a new cell, if I could call it like that.. integrate a mobile to our brain biggrin.gif It would have everything, unlimited storage, a camera and etc. I mean we could speak by our thoughts so we don't need to talk to air, we could write sms or send mms with our thoughts too, we could use our eyes to make photos or movies biggrin.gif and etc. But I rather use my mobile phone instead. tongue.gif

I am not sure if an all hands free phone would be practical. First the voice recognition program currently is mediocre at best; you would probably have to repeat your commands several times at a loud voice for it to register. That brings up another problem that what if you want to make a call at a public place, very inconvenient.
