After I run the Application (That's an ebook reader)

In IE's history, there's some url like this

htmlzip://www.vnschool.net/index.htm

When I clicked on it...

I know what it is , but don't know how to create it. How to handle a custom protocol?

In the App, IE's dropdown menu is not shown either. How can I prevent it show showing on user's screen?

Many application can do those things (MSDN Library, for example)
Does anyone know how to do so?

Currently, I'm using VB.NET and Java.
