I just have one quick question. I have a Flash website made up already, but it's over 100 mbs. Will this be a problem? will it take forever to load up? I've never used a flash webiste, so I have no idea how it works. (feel free to call me a noob : ) thanx

It depends, if the site just require about 100kb to load at the init and for each page. There's nothing wrong and it will work fine. But if you want to visitor to load all 100MB whenever they enter the site. Noone want to stay. Not everyone has a broadband connection. And even they have a broadband connection, they can't keep waiting so long.

I'm really into music composition and theory . . . well not the theory part so much lol : ) I'm into 20th century classical composers like Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Khachaturian, Rimsky-Korsakov, and even Stravinsky. I really love the passion in their music. ever heard any of their music? I highly recommend it.

Anyway....yeah, 100MB is way excessive, especially for dialup. I'm stuck with 56k....and that would probably take me five or six hours. >_<

100Mb site is not big at all if its content is Music. But i would still recomend to stay away from Flash as its a properity standard.
Reseacrh into some alternate ways...like may be streaming audio..so you dont loose your content to pirates.

Shostako2150, so the music is making your site so big. You can compress them with a lower bit-rate. MIDI is another choice for classical music. Try that.

I've seen some huge flash websites, although I don't know if their size was as big as your's.. but anyway if the visitor has to download all the 100 MB on EACH visit, that would be very convenient, and you can forget about having any visitor with the speed less than ISDN one..
Now if your site will load part by part.. for example when you open the main page there's only 1MB loading, then you click on a link, there's some more MB's that load... e.t.c.. or for each song you've got a loading.. so that would be fine.

Sorry, it isn't totally in the way of the topic, but; where did you learn flash?

Well, it depends on how you have implemented the on site navigation; i mean:
-If the web you designed loads the 100% of it's content when a user just visits it, then it's an awful design and you should start thinking on other ways to manage your info weight...

-If the design wisely distributes the info on independent loading sections, then it's OK, in fact, a flash web could include as much info as you desired if it was loaded in pieces.

-If you are looking for help on how to manage this weight problen, try visiting www.flashdeveloper.nl

if you're entire website is flash based or like you stuck everything on that one page, then it will take too long to load and no one will want to go cause some people have dialup and stuuuuuuf....
or you could like divide up the weight so that it doesn't load all at once =]
i don't really use flash, so i don't like know what the standard for flash is =/ sorry, but that's my opinion
