You finally got your Linux environment to crash. Ctrl+Alt+Backspace does nothing, nor do the F-keys. So you reach for the power button. STOP! Using the power button to reboot usually causes more problems than it solves. The Linux kernel includes a secret method of restarting your PC should it ever stop doing it’s job.

Interesting, when my system locks up, I just hit the reset button XD.
I guess that's not a good thing, yet my Linux environment never screws up since it's the X server that caused the crash when playing a game that hung the server. xboxrulz |

dead is dead, that's all I have to know when an environement crashes. If it's a hardware lockup then even this trick won't help ... you only create a lot of signals that are going nowhere to be interpreted by nothing
