Rumors are running rampant lately and today we hear that Apple may be evaluating a Palm purchase. This rumor comes about after two of Palms biggest investors are calling for the company to be sold.
There are a few connections that link Palm and Apple—some more concrete than others. They are located close to each other, some of the early Palm employees are previous Apple employees and Jobs has already taken a stab at buying the company back in the 90s. Treo Newton 800p nanoite? Let’s hope it would be better than Motorola and Apple’s phone offspring. |

It would be good if Apple bought Palm, then they could incorporate the iPod into it.

It will be great if it is ture.
The outlook of Palm machine did not change much since palm V, except Treo (it was from Handspring). if Apple buy Palm, they should redesign the outlook of the Palm top. And apple's market strategy should help palm to improved its market share rate. |

Seems reasonable, http://www.thinksecret.com/news/0602videoipod.html shows the plans for the next video ipod. Touch screen tech from a third party...hmmm... iiiinteresting
Anyways yea, seems plausible. Plus I haven't heard much about Palm over the last year so they can't be doing that well, time for fresh management |

This would probably be great for Apple. Apple would definately be leading the way in hand-held devices with the many versions of the Ipod and a whole lineup of PDAs.
I don't currently own an Ipod, but it was be pretty cool to hotsync your music from your Ipod to your PDA and vice-versa. Or even a web-enabled Ipod. Wifi on an Ipod with direct connection to Itunes? The possibilies are out there... |

Wouldn't this be expensive, I mean more than the IPod already is? I think all the gadgets on it will be nifty and very cool and all, but if it comes at a price many aren't willing to pay... I'm gonna pass on it. I really don't expect things to compete with others like in this case. Price will be a main reason why it may or may not fail.

I think if they offered an iPod quality mp3 player with a good quality pda level of available software, THAT would finally be what convinced me to spend that much money on an iPod. I could go for having a multi-purpose handheld that actually does each of it's jobs as well as any device does one of the inidividual tasks.

i think this is just more evidence that apple are really trying to expand at the moment. intel chips, lower prices, fashionable design stemming from ipod's, itunes on mobile phones. buyin palm will help with their expansion into business areas. good on them, apple aren't saints but they make better products than ms.
