I'm afraid that Invisionfree forums cannot be uploaded to your own site. They must be hosted on their servers, unless you buy Invision Power Board. You can just put the link. It's a bit of a nuisance, but you are getting a paid board for free, so I can't really complain. smile.gif

you can run an invisionfree board but as bluefish said, it must be hosted somewhere else.

a good host is IPBFREE.COM
http://ipbfree.com/home/

i have not personally used them, but friends who have could not have more highly recommended them! they are also now using IPBFree version 2 now!

good luck

Hmm I think that there is a free version of the invision board (the old version, i think 1.3 or something) but i'm not sure where to get it. You might want to search around for it or something.
Otherwise if I were you i'd look at other forum software including phpBB and simple machines forums (SMF). I would go with smf simply because it's easier to use and phpBB has a load of security holes.
But if you are going to be modding your forum (heavy modding) then phpBB is the way to go. There are a few mods that fix the holes plus there are millions of mods and skins avaliable, all for free.

Invision free is just an invision power board that supports ads (thats how they get there money). If they let you upload it for free they would be loosing money (if you took the ads off). I think you can upload SMF (free and on fantastico), PHPBB (free and good and on fantastico), PHP-NUKE (addition to PHPBB but costs money), VBulletin (costs money) and Invision Power (like Invision free but costs money). There are a lot more but thouse are the best that I am awair of. I would agree with everyone else that PHPBB should be fine for if you want to have an upload. If you don't care you should go with invision free. Another idea is createphpbb (free hosted and addition to phpbb).

I've got to agree too. When you compare phpBB to the likes of the paid ones, you'll see how good a product it is. Its true that it lacks quite a few of the features packed by VB & IPB, but unlike the freelancers at phpBB, those guys are composed of developers who are paid to do the job. Hence they can devote a greater amount of time in developing their products. phpBB, on the other hand has a large community, which comprises of developers and designers alike. There are loads of MODs / Hacks and Themes available, that can suit your needs. Besides, being fully open source, it can be customized to suit your needs too.

With the advent of the third version - PHPBB Olympus (currently in Beta 5) you can see the number of features they've improved upon. It might still not be as powerful as VB, but I guess that's as good as you get it for free.

Good standalone forums would be phpBB and SimpleMachines. Eazy installation steps for both and loads of mods/modules available.

On the other hand if you want something thats integrated (Forums+Website+Portal..) like a complete CMS then i'd suggest e107. Probably the only CMS i would trust with everything integrated and eazy to use settings. Plus a huge user base and loads of plug-ins / themes wink.gif

Dhanesh.

I have a lot of problems with phpBB though because everytime I make it it will say something is missing or wrong or overused(don't ask). I've tried uploading it and it took forever and wouldn't work.Any ideas on how to upload it?
