I have heard rumors that Google might be offering webspace to customers. I haven't read any articles about this. I merely stumbled upon it while reading something. If this rumor is true, what do you think Google will offer if their webspace just happened to be free?

I personally think they will eventually expand into this industry. Google has made it's way into Froogle and Gmail. It's likely that they will end up giving out free webspace.

Yes, I know, they do offer blogs already!!

Google is affiliated with Blogger. Blogger is offering free blogs. I don't know what else there is to say about this... you can check out the site: http://www.blogger.com. A while back, Blogger users got Gmail invites. I don't know if they are still doing this.

If you have any specific questions, I'll try to answer them!!

yeah but it would be ad payed, just like everything else on google, but at least the google ads are discreet. the only advantage i can think is that the bandwidth and space allowances will be huge. but you styill get those long annyoing subdomains that geocities and anglefire give out.

That would suck. Sub-domains suck. What if Google gave out domains with their free webspace? You know how many people would register? It would probably start out like Gmail did -- limited time to register then a few invites. I had something like six invites at first, and now I have 48. If you want a Gmail account, send me an instant message or e-mail me -- neil.kollipara [at] gmail [dot] com.

Oh google webspace would be great, php, mysql, and all that would be great from google but I would still be here. They really need some sort of community, we all know there nice but why no community.

Welll...technicaly you can already get google webspace for free but I'm not sure if you would be able to get it to host your website....The thing with gmail is...You can turn your e-mail account into a virtual webdrive... so like you'd have about a gig of free space where you could store your things wink.gif

That's what I like about Gmail... but you can't host your site through Gmail. You can store crap in your inbox, but you can't host a site.

If Google starts a web community forum of some sort, I will be the first one to register.

In fact, Blogger is owned by Google. Google purchase Blogger which was owned by Pyra Labs, a company working on blogging software. It's was a smart desicion Google in view of how hot blogs and blogging are these days.
