does ne1 know any free (ftp) host site where i could upload my things and other ppl could download? been searching for weeks.... with no success

Astahost offers ftp with a hosting account, plus gives you I think 15MEG storage to start, and you could use their site to merely upload your files, but I don't think they would really like you just using the site for such and it may exceed your bandwidth. The other users would have to download using an FTP client, as you would as well to upload files...I am not really sure just what it isyou are asking. You might want to read the Terms Of Service about hosting on astahost and see if they allow just hosting for nothing but downloads off their server.

Astahost, is a good option if we talk of webhosting, it offers many of options, but if you want to only keep your archives, you need to use another service, but if is for your webpage or something like that, your can use it.

Why do you need FTP? Would it be okay to upload images in another way or does it have to be FTP? If FTP is not needed, try either: imageshack or photobucket.

I agree with andrwxsCOL : most of providers don't really want to be used as fileservers, or you will soon see your bandwidth quotas exceeded.

However, maybe there is another way to do that. Do you have your own PC on internet ?
then, I see an alternate solution.
You simply want people to be able to download files somewhere, for your own usage (and not necessary a web application usage).
So, what about installing a ftp server process on your PC, and create an account with a name and a password you will be able to give to your friends ? Then, your friends will be able to ftp to your PC when it will be online, no need for using an external server.

I would reccommend savefile.com, although you don't need to register, I reccommend it, since it lets you keep track of your files pretty easily. It does add some numbers to the file name though, so split archives will not extract automatically.

I recommend dragonhosting.biz although you need to post in the forums they are very good for storage because they have very good uptime and 24/7 ftp access

Astahost is also very good, im using it as storage at the moment and its great, so far i havnt experienced any down time and i can log into ftp when ever i want
