I'm so excited about BF2, nothing's gonna be better!!! i wrote this article in Microsoft word to demonstrate my thoughts on the game after looking at different sources, here's the deal!

Battlefield 2 is an essential purchase for the online gamer. BF2 features an amazing physics engine, a realistic material penetration system as well as an arsenal of modern weapons, a destructable enviroment and a reward system for the player. Firstly I will start with the brand-new physics engine, which is unpredictable and realistic. During an explosion anything not cemented to the ground will become airborne, sending barrels, vehicles, soldiers and debris into the air, sometimes airborne objects can become deadly, sometimes colliding with a scurrying soldier. Antother part of the physics are the ragdoll effects on the soldiers, some men are flung away, limbs flailing into the air by explosions, while others hit by bullets collapse slowly.

A new addition to the Battlefield series is is destructable enviroments, in-game footage showed a situation featuring an engineer planting explosives on a bridge, a bridge that an enemy convoy was passing over, the engineer detonated the explosives tearing off a section of the bridge, then a jet flew over, delivering a payload of bombs. This left a tank escorting the convoy stranded on one section of the bridge rendering him useless against the closing-in enemy forces. Another addition is material penetration, which compromises the difference between cover and concealment, that lets bullets go through objects not strong enough to stop the shots, that makes a player think twice before hiding behind a corrugated-iron fence when under fire.

The new arsenal of weapons consist of modern weaponry and near completed weapons currently in development, now the battleground is set in an Arabic atmosphere, not much different to the one in the popular Battlefield 1942 mod "Desert Combat", the sides fighting on these Arabic lands are the US, Chinese and the fictional Middle-Eastern Coalition. Now there is a reward system that rewards a player who helps the wounded and repairs damaged vehicles, there is also a customisation mechanic to the game, the customisation will let players make their soldier unique to any other soldiers that they will be fighting on the 150-player battleground! Also there are now material rewards for good scores. Those who were disappointed by Battlefield: Vietnam, will see the turning tide from Battlefield 2, it is a gaming masterpiece that is hard to beat.

yep, 64 players on the battlefield, new engine, new maps, new everything!

around 20,000 people playing on the Battlefield 2 demo already, and it was only released last night!

Its a hefty 500mb but its certainly worth the download.

Search for it on google, there's plently of mirrors to download it from.

Battlefield 2 system requirements aren't that harsh either, but with an amazing pc, the graphics would be brilliant, as shown in the official trailers.

head over to eagames.com for info!

BF2 demo... well, it's actually very good, great job EA!

BF1942 is one of my favorite PC games ever, I've had it installed since 2003... but BFV disappointed me. After playing BF2, I think I'm back in the game. At 512 RAM right now, instead of buying BF2, though, I will just be saving that $50 towards some RAM - 512 just isn't quite enough for this game.

I would say Battlefield 2 is going to be a great game. I played the demo and its pretty fun. After playing all the tactical shooters I think its time for some aracde type action. Being commander and artillery striking the US carrier was so amusing while they waited for planes.

I wish there was a more efficient way for getting rid of some Commanders. I guess with their being a general lack of communication on teams (lack of squads, for example, usually you only have 2 at max, that are really working together), and so not everyone even pays attention and doesn't vote.

I played the demo last night. I have to say that even I was impressed with the new engine they have. I wish they added at least a few more maps in the demo but, its just to pull you in and buy their game I guess. Its defidently a must buy for anyone who loves MMO FPS games.

OMFG played the full version last night after finally getting my grubby little paws on it and I loved it muchly. THe rest of the maps are pretty awesome and there's just so many cool aspects to the game its mind boggling. I can't wait to get home from work tonight so I can sink my teeth into it even more. Drop a handful of hours playing away.

The whole apsects of formalized squads IMO gives the game something that no other has had for me. The ability to have a massive battlke being waged yet being part of a smaller more refined event within it adds a new level that I havn't experienced befre in a game, especially not online. Actually makng it so a bunch of random ppl can get together and work well in a group makes me give the game 72.3 thumbs up.

There are 2 new features that really make this version stand alone from previous Battlefield’s. The new commander mode allows a person to basically “command” the battle from a top down standpoint (execute artillery strikes, give squads orders, etc). The other great feature, is the new command execution. Before, you had to use the F keys to execute a command to your team. Now, you simply point at a target, hit Q and click the appropriate command, and not only does it call out the command to your team, it highlights it on the map. The usability of this feature was REALLY thought out, as the most used command (Enemy Spotted) is selected by default, so you just have to hit Q + click at the same time.
There are a couple of bugs however. For instance, every once and a while, if you capture a base, some teammates that now spawn there, will show up as enemies, and when you kill them, you will get a Teamkill. I racked up a wopping -27 score in about 30 seconds this weekend before realizing it. How this bug makes it through testing, is beyond me, but what makes me ok with it, is that EA/Dice are usually VERY fast in patching the game to fix these type of bugs. Another annoyance, is the Helicopter controls. Not only do the controls hardly respond while at full speed, they just feel fake overall. Anytime you angle the helo down, it speeds towards the ground at an incredibly fast rate. Sure, this might be realistic, but hardly easy to use in-game.
But, I am extremely impressed with this game. I would go as far to say that this is the game of the year.
